The Spring Fire

This was the view from our RV park last night in La Veta. The fire was getting closer - 5 miles to the west we were told. At 9:30 p.m. there was a knock on our trailer door and pre-evacuation orders were given to us. We decided to hook-up and head down to Trinidad to stay overnight in the Walmart parking lot until we could make arrangements for a new place to stay. We made the Walmart by 11:30 p.m. and finally got to bed just after midnight.

We found a nice little RV park today by Aguilar, Colorado and it will be our base until we move on to Colorado Springs on July 6th. We went back to La Veta today to pickup a package and our mail. The smoke was awful and not a healthy place to be at this time. Hoping that the Spring Fire can get contained in the near future. The winds here kick up every afternoon and evening and keep the fire moving.
