Resaca de la Palma State Park

Sunshine and cool breezy winds today - easy decision to go for a hike at Resaca de la Palma State Park in Brownsville, Texas. Late morning is not the best time to go birding, but it was a far better time to go for a hike on a cool December day.

The park has a very nice visitor center with some adjacent bird feeders to attract many of the resident birds such as the Green Jay or Great Kiskadee. The park features five (5) bird/nature observation decks that overlook the Resaca with numerous trails that are connected by a paved 2.76 mile park loop road. Only walkers, bikers, and the park tram are allowed on the park loop road - ideal for family friendly bicycling outings.

We followed the park loop road counter-clockwise to catch all the various observation areas and a few of the side trails.
