Happy New Year - 2019
2019 started off a little wintry here in Tucson - the valley that we are staying in received a very light dusting of snow. As our friends in Texas reminded us - it is winter!
The snow did look really scenic this morning - but it was all gone by mid-day.
Our home received a light dusting of snow.
The Tucson Mountains off to the west. Since it was too cold for a bike ride, we decided to visit a couple more of the local breweries. Today we tried Sentinel Peak Brewing Company and Dillinger Brewing Company (the only two craft breweries that were open on New Year's Day).
Sentinel Peak Brewing Company is located in the Mid-town area of Tucson and features several tasty craft beers and a pretty nice food menu. We started with a sampler of four beers and tried the chips and salsa for our afternoon snack.
Heather's favorite was the Porter and I preferred the Dunkel. I also tried the Ciderboys First Press, a very tasty apple cider that was not too sweet - tastes just like biting a crisp apple. The chips and homemade salsa were excellent with plenty of heat in the salsa - made my head sweat (as always) - good thing I was wearing a hat :)
Our second stop on the impromptu brewery tour was Dillinger Brewing Company, nestled in a little warehouse area north of Downtown Tucson.
Another sample of four beers at Dillinger... the Senorwheta (Pale Wheat Ale), Roadrunner Red (Red/Amber Ale), Agave Porter, and the Bennu Approach (Double Imperial Stout). Heather's favorite was the Agave Porter while I preferred the Roadrunner Red. Tuesday's are 33% off growler and crowler fills at Dillinger - something for us to consider another Tuesday.
