Gravel Bike Tour, Day 3 - Comanche to Brownwood

Today was John's 55th birthday and he wanted to ride his age - 55 miles. Our original route was around 48 miles so we made some modifications to create a 55 mile route to Brownwood. Heather and I decided a shorter day of 43 miles would be nice so we took a different route out of Comanche to the south. We left about 30 minutes later and figured we would see everyone at the lunch stop in Zepher, Texas. The windmills in the distance above were a very common sight around Comanche.

Our route was south and then west - with a wind out of the northeast, it was a very nice day. The Bryant's and Pogue's rode west from Comanche and then down through Blanket, Texas. Their route joined our's southeast of Blanket at mile marker 15 on our route.

The gravel roads outside of Comanche were in excellent condition and had no traffic. Perfect riding conditions to just get lost in the outdoors and scenery - letting life roll on by.

Trying to capture a Monarch Butterfly on the roadside flowers.

A good question... on the door of our lunch stop at the Diamond R Store and Cafe.

Closing shot - Bluebonnets on County Road 267 just outside Brownwood, Texas.
