We went to a nearby trail in Cuchara that parallels one on the many dikes in the area. The Dikes trail runs primarily north and south along the east edge of the Cuchara River Valley.
Wildflowers were frequent along the trail.
Looking across the Cuchara Valley towards the old Panadero Ski Area - now called the Cuchara Mountain Park.
More flowers that caught Heather's attention.
Not sure if this is Heckle or Jeckle - but we saw plenty of Magpies today.
The hike is an out and back trail - on the way back we hiked up to the top of the dike. I did a little scrambling to get up on top of the rocks.
The view from the top of the dike looking north - you can see the dike running through the area above.
And the view looking south up towards Cuchara Pass.
Parting shot - looking down the dike from a different perspective - Heather was sitting just about 100 feet below.
