Natural Arch Hike - San Isabel National Forest
Just a short drive up past Rye, Colorado to San Isabel National Forest Trail #326 - a nice out and back hike to the Natural Arch. One of the few hikes we've done recently where we went downhill to our goal and then uphill the whole way back.
The trail is located west and north of Rye, Colorado and just about a mile off State Highway 165 after you enter the San Isabel National Forest,
The first part of the hike followed a Forest Service road along Little Saint Charles Creek.
After leaving the Forest Service road the trail descended gently through the trees working its way back down towards Little Saint Charles Creek.
At the approach to the Natural Arch you have to cross the creek and then climb up to the arch.
The view looking from the backside of the Natural Arch.
Another perspective of the arch - a very impressive geological formation.
At the base of the arch someone has placed this nice memorial for a loved one.
Little Saint Charles Creek... so nice to hear the running water along the way.
