Revisited a trail in the Humbug Spire Wilderness Area (Montana) - hiked to the trails end to a rock formation called "the Wedge" and to remnants of an old prospector's cabin.
Great scenery along the Big Sheep Scenic Byway... 58 miles of remote gravel between Grant and Dell, Montana.
Fun and challenging gravel ride from Twin Bridges, MT to Melrose, MT and back. New bike was perfect as the 3" wide tires gobbled up the sand, deep gravel, and rough stuff to keep me comfy.
We ventured north towards Butte today. Thompson Park is a beautiful area to hike or mountain bike - we chose the Beaver Ponds Trail that is about 3.75 miles long from the trailhead and ends at the Continental Divide Trail.
We saw only three other people on the trail (all mountain bikers) and then two different moose! Highlight of our day was the moose encounter... the trail was very nice too.
We did a simple out and back road ride on Montana State Highway 91 north of Dillon. Lots of smoke haze from all the wildfires.
Took a day to go hike in the Humbug Spire Wilderness. Nice hike following Moose Creek - but alas, we did not see any moose.
The 6th and last day of our bike tour took us on a challenging 68 mile ride with 40% gravel, two mountain passes, and one crossing of the Continental Divide at Bannack Pass.
