Our cruise finished on a Sunday morning at 8 a.m. with our flight back to Houston leaving at 6 p.m. So we booked a bus tour to the El Yunque National Forest - a rain forest. Our bus tour took us into the rain forest up to the Yokahu Tower and Juan Diego Falls.
Last stop of our cruise and we decided to visit Harrison's Cave on Barbados. Heather and I opted for the traditional cave tour while Jared and Kaitlyn signed up for the eco-adventure cave tour where they climbed and crawled throughout the cave (lots of mud too)! Harrison's Cave is a living cave (formations are alive and still forming) and offers some beautiful formations. On our way back from the cave our shuttle bus driver took us by the house where Rhianna grew up.
Our last trip to St. Lucia was five years ago and we traveled by bus to see the island. This time we toured by catamaran sailboat down to the Pitons and back. Along the way we sailed into Marigot Bay, stopped at Anse Cochan Beach to swim/snorkel, and finally sail by the scenic Pitons.
A relaxing day on a St. Kitts bus tour to visit Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill Fortress, and Timothy Hill Overlook.
Day two brought us to Phillipsburg, St. Martin. We spent part of our day hiking along the Natural Pool Trail. This scenic trail follows the coastline from Guana Bay down to Back Bay. Lots of beautiful views as you make your way along the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean towards St. Barts. Our hike was out and back to a very rocky beach that offered some great beach combing for shells. After our hiking was complete we followed our local hiking guide's recommendation of Taloula Mango's for lunch and libations - excellent local food and tasty drinks.
First Stop of our cruise was St. Thomas - we started by visiting a local brewery, the Tap and Still. After a morning brew and snack we sailed over to Honeymoon Beach on St. John for snorkeling and swimming. Honeymoon Beach sits inside Virgin Islands National Park - our first national park visit inside a U.S. territory.
Stayed with Jared and Kaitlyn a few days before our cruise in Old San Juan. Plenty to see - toured the old forts and enjoyed delicious local food and drinks.
Enjoying the unpredictable November weather here on South Padre Island - RVing on the Island at the Holiday KOA, Lots of walks, birding, and enjoying the beach on warm and cold days.
Jared and Kaitlyn came over to Fredericksburg for the weekend. We took one day of their visit to go explore Boerne, Texas. Nice little downtown area with shops, a cool wine tasting room, and a few breweries.
